Identified by his gold teeth, Mumbai Police arrests fugitive on the run for 15 years


A 38-year-old fugitive has been arrested after 15 years of evading capture. Police in Mumbai identified him through his two gold teeth.


The accused has changed his identity and shifted to Kutch in Gujarat to avoid being caught “He has been identified as Pravin Ashubha Jadeja aka Pravin Singh aka Pradeep Singh Ashubha Jadeja,” a police official said.


A charge of cheating and misleading was filed against the accused by the police. The accused was granted bail by the court after a few days of being arrested. In the days following the hearing, the accused absconded from Mumbai and never returned to court, Therefore, he was declared "a fugitive" by the court,” the police official said.


Pravin used to work as a salesman in a cloth shop in 2007. His owner once asked him to pick up Rs 40,000 from another merchant. According to the police official, Pravin misled the police and the owner by telling them that someone had stolen his money bag from the toilet instead of giving it to his owner.


As a result of the investigation, Mumbai police said Pravin kept the money for himself and misled them. The accused was arrested, but after getting bail, he absconded."


“A few days ago, the police resumed the investigation into Pravin’s whereabouts, and interrogated his former associates, who confirmed that Pravin is hiding in Sabhrai village of Mandvi Taluka in the Kachchh District of Gujarat,” the Mumbai police said in reference to the latest search for the accused. Police acted as LIC agents, calling Pravin to Mumbai, and after confirmation, Pravin was arrested.
