A person smashed a glass bottle of hot sauce at a popular swimming pool in Massachusetts, forcing it to close and imposing cleaning fees of up to $20,000.
A bottle of hot sauce causes the closure of a famous American swimming pool
Rosemary Recreation Complex, a swimming pool with a towering water slide in Needham, was closed after shards of glass fell into the water last Sunday.
The cleanup, which includes draining the 220,000-gallon pool, rebalancing the chemicals and testing it for bacteria, will likely cost the city between $15,000 and $20,000.
Local officials expressed concern about the hot sauce problem. “The entire community is suffering from the loss of our pool, all because one person decided to bring a bottle of salsa with him,” Massachusetts State Senator Becca Rausch said in a Facebook post.
He added: "Please do not bring glass into the pool. These and other rules are not difficult to follow. They are there for our collective enjoyment and our personal health and safety."
By Thursday afternoon, the pool had reopened, Nidheim Amusement Park management said on Facebook.
