A video clip shows an African migrant risking his life to save an entire family from a fire that broke out in their apartment on the upper floors of a residential building in the suburbs of Paris.
A family of six was trapped in a burning apartment on the sixth floor on Friday, July 4, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. They were able to escape the worst of the disaster thanks to their neighbor, Foussinou Cissé, who climbed out of a window and balanced on the ledge to evacuate the entire family, including two infants and two toddlers.
A neighbor filmed the heroic rescue and posted it on social media. Foussinou Cissé told RTL television: "I saw the babies and toddlers, and I didn't hesitate. I jumped out of the window."
He continued, "The woman saw me and gave me her two children, so I took them and brought them to the other side."
Cissé emphasized that he did not think before acting, saying, "It was spontaneous."
He explained that he only realized the heroism of his actions "after the incident": "Like everyone else, I discovered videos on social media. I didn't know I was filming. I didn't expect it to escalate to this point."
