A truck crashed into the barrier of the Clark Bridge on the Ohio River in Kentucky, United States, after veering off course, causing it to dangle over the river in a terrifying scene.
The accident was reported as the truck was moving north on the bridge, when it apparently crossed the lane and collided with the bridge's guardrail, according to local reports.
A dramatic video shows a responder being lowered from a ladder onto the truck in order to lift the driver to safety. (Click on the image link to watch the video).
The truck's trailer was seen secured to the bridge girders, preventing it from falling into the water below. The hood of the truck also opened and he was seen hanging from the cab.
The truck's trailer and cab, which remained intact during the rescue operation, bear the name "Sysco," a food distribution company.
A company spokesperson praised first responders for their rescue and said: “Sysco is extremely grateful to the rescue services and law enforcement who quickly and safely resolved the incident on the Clark Memorial Bridge today.”
Adding, "We are grateful that our Sysco colleague is safe and thank our first responders for their courageous efforts to rescue our driver. Safety is a priority at Sysco, and we are cooperating with law enforcement investigations."
