In an unprecedented romantic move, Moscow has decided to transform its metro stations and river ports into "New Addresses for Happiness," where newlyweds can tie the knot in a breathtakingly enchanting atmosphere!
Mayakovskaya Metro Station has become one of the most exclusive wedding venues in the Russian capital. At night, when the trains stop running, the station transforms into an enchanting wedding hall, where newlyweds exchange rings under lavish lighting amidst its historic architecture.
To make the moment even more magical, the Moscow-2024 train opens its doors especially for newlyweds to enjoy unique photoshoots.
Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, said:
"Marriage in the Moscow Metro is an unforgettable experience for newlyweds. We are happy to see more and more couples choosing the metro every year. We wish them a happy married life and will continue to support the 'New Addresses of Happiness' project."
The Northern River Port, now in its fifth season, has become one of the most popular wedding venues in Moscow, with 131 weddings taking place last year alone!
Marriage registration takes place in the evening or on weekends, after the port is closed to the public, giving newlyweds a private and exclusive celebration. After the ceremony, they can take romantic photos on the rooftop with a panoramic view of the water, celebrate with guests in a lush garden surrounded by fountains, and wander around the enchanting atmosphere of the port under the stars.
Since the project's launch in 2021, 364 weddings have taken place at the Northern River Port and more than 70 at the Mayakovskaya station of the Moscow Metro.
