From Jeddah to Doha: A Saudi walks 55 days in support of his country's team and a refutation of misconceptions about the Arab world.


The Saudi traveler, Abdullah Al-Salami, walked the distance between the Saudi city of Jeddah and the Qatari capital, Doha, on a 55-day trip, in support of his country’s national team.

Abdullah Al-Salami, who arrived at the Doha Corniche last week, to encourage his country in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, expressed his hope that his 55-day trip would constitute a catalyst for building bridges of cooperation, and relationships between people and dispelling misconceptions about the Arab world.


The traveler and the football fan chose a special method to express his support and encouragement for the Saudi national team, by making a journey across the desert, from his hometown-Jeddah on the Red Sea coast- to Doha on the Arabian Gulf, on foot for a distance of more than 1,600 km.


In an interview with "Qatar2022.qa" website, in front of the Abu Samra border crossing, Al-Salami expressed his happiness at the warm reception from the audience who was waiting for him when he passed the border crossing between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as upon his arrival at the Doha Corniche, Fans and supporters celebrated his achievement and his success in completing his trip to attend the World Cup. The countdown to the World Cup was marked with souvenir photos taken under the Saudi flagpole.


As soon as I heard Prince Tamim explain that the World Cup audience is on course for an exceptional experience in Qatar, I said I would go there, even if I had to walk, and I made a plan for my trip toward the World Cup, starting from Jeddah's Corniche on the Red Sea coastline, all the way to Doha. I hoped to be the first person to walk this distance between the two cities across the Arabian Peninsula."


"Through this journey, I want to prove to everyone that nothing is impossible with determination and perseverance, as we can achieve what we strive for through strong will and diligent work," he said.

The Green Falcons fan hopes that the news of his long-distance journey will reach the players of his country and that this adventure will motivate them to exert their utmost efforts and perform their best in the competition.


The Saudi team will start its World Cup trip at Lusail Stadium on November 22 against Argentina, the two-time World Cup winner, and then its match with Poland on November 26 at Education City Stadium, before returning to Lusail Stadium to face Mexico on November 30, at the end of the competitions. The third group.
